About

Let me introduce myself

A few things are fixed, like that the world is turning and organizational changes are a constant in this game. I am happy to see new management methods for the changing environment and to use them where it makes sense. An open mindset for innovations, rethinking of known management behaviors and learning by doing is what drives me.

Work Experience

SAP IT Advisory and Interim Management (2022 – present)
Freelancer

IT consulting for tactical and operational challenges at VP or Director level. Leading international programs and projects or steering consulting firms as an independent trusted advisor.

Head of SAP (2019 – 2022)
IT4IPM – IT FOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT GmbH

As SAP Manager, I have the great opportunity to develop new operating models, such as continuous delivery in a grown heterogeneous system environment. The choice of the right processes, organization and tools significantly support the change process.

Senior Manager (2010 – 2019)
cbs Corporate Business Solutions Unternehmensberatung GmbH

Different types of projects are interesting and moreover they are a great opportunity for learning. In addition to my full-time project management duties, I’m advising standardisation strategies or global template design, build and implementation programs. Of course, account management and the acquisition of new customers are also part of the job.

I’m the head of the methodology cbs (M-cbs). The company own methodology is more than just a reliable project approach. It combines project management methodology, project scaling, tools & templates and a comprehensive best practice repository.

Senior Consultant (2006 – 2010)
Capgemini Deutschland GmbH

I mainly advised clients in the energy industry and had the oppertunity to get the first coordination roles like integration manager, cutover manager and test manager in several international projects.

In parallel, I passed some application certifications in Order Fulfillment, CRM Fundamentals and some company internal use cases in SAP Solution Manager.

Programmer (2006 – 2006)
Accenture Technology Solutions GmbH

I thought I should understand what I’m saying. That’s why I used my first job to look behind the scenes of SAP.

Diploma Thesis (2005 – 2006)
Audi AG

It was an interesting thing to do consulting work as a student in my final thesis. The good thing was that my result was a reliable decision paper. Of course, the theoretical part was – maybe – a little bit too less 😉

Internship (2004 – 2004)
BMW AG

The logistic classes during my studies were really good. Therefore, I wanted to learn about logistics in the real world and I wanted to see it in a high performing area.

Internship (2002 – 2003)
Micronas Semiconductor Holding AG

To make a long story short: I have developed ABAP reports based on logistic requirements.

Project Management Institute (2014 – present)

I was certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in 2014 and joined the PMI chapter Munich. I use this platform to exchange new ideas and to network.

Education

Diploma Business Information Technology (2001 – 2006)
University of Applied Sciences (Germany)

In 2006 I successfully completed my diploma in business information management at the University of Applied Sciences in Furtwangen (near Freiburg).

Louisiana State University (2004)

I took my chance and studied in the USA for one semester. And it was great! A different lifestyle, a different culture and a completely different approach how to teach complex theories.

Change and Innovations

My interests

I love to see innovations and to play with them. I am open-minded, at least I try new approaches, methods and tools. Of course, I am asking myself how this could help me as person to bring more value to my clients. In addition to that, is this something, where I should put all my energy in, because it is worth?!

There are innovation techniques like design thinking, agile project management methods and more. However, the tricky thing in my opinion is to adopt them into a different context, for example: design thinking for process design or IT implementation projects for standard software. How to do a process design workshop with design thinking components like “Personas”? Agile methodology like SCRUM with an approach of a minimum value product, is this something you should use as a management consultant?

Also, what should be considered from books like the Business Modelling Generator or Business Model Navigator for your day-to-day or future work?

And some more stuff I would like to discuss…

  • Why is an organizational change management shown everywhere but nobody is really taking care about it during the project?
  • Why is PowerPoint the primary method in consulting and not the first medium in agile methodologies?
  • How can new technologies and apps help us to make project work to a game?
